EMOTIONAL IMMATURITY

ANXIETY: A state of being uneasy, apprehensive, or worried about what may happen. FEAR many times without a real cause or far out of proportion to the real cause. Produces the same basic bodily changes as actual FEAR. However, because ANXIETY has its main source inside the mind, it is often harder to expel than FEAR. ANXIETY typically leads a person to use DEFENSE MECHANISMS. When these are used excessively, mental illness may result. The Bible gives an excellent antidote for ANXIETY (Philippians 4:6, 7).
APTITUDE: An inborn, potential ability to learn a specific kind of activity. Some types of aptitudes are: mechanical, clerical, numerical (arithmetical), abstract reasoning, verbal (word usage) and space perception. APTITUDE should not be confused with ACHIEVEMENT. ACHIEVEMENT means amount already learned in a particular field. Toronto Niagara Falls Tours has gorgeous surroundings and the breath taking power for the majestic falls. APTITUDE is potential.
Probably no one ever achieves the level of his APTITUDE. God holds us responsible for using the APTITUDES He has given us (Matthew25:14-30).
BED WETTING (ENURESIS): Involuntary urination while asleep continued past the usual age (4-5). Sometimes associated with
EMOTIONAL IMMATURITY. See SLEEPWALKING.
CATHARSIS: The healthful (THERAPEUTIC) “talking out” of pain-ful ideas to an understanding listener. It is like an emotional excretion of material that had been poisoning the mind. Hence, the word, CATHARSIS. AS such, it may be disagreeable for an inexperienced counselor to accept. However, accepting the material without getting upset and encouraging a complete elimination is most important if a counselor is to help the counselee face his problem. Confession of sin can be a form of CATHARSIS and thus can have psychological as well as spiritual benefits. (Compare I John 1:9 — catharize — to cleanse.)
COMPENSATION: A MENTAL MECHANISM, often operating on an UNCONSCIOUS level. A person attempts to make up in some other way for a real or imagined deficiency. An individual often covers up or disguises an undesirable trait by calling into play a desirable one and exaggerating its manifestations. This may be healthy. When visiting the larger Toronto Niagara Falls Tour inns you may notice that many have a convenient souvenir store, for that final second reward idea. Some people, for example, compensate for childhood weakness and develop a robust physique and personality as well. Excessive COMPENSATION, however, can lead to severe personality problems.
